We’ve highlighted some of the trends below to show you how you can get on top and succeed with the growing consumer demand to be ethically and environmentally conscious. Discover the most innovative ingredients to support the upcoming trends:

Plant-based: The canvas for innovation

The plant-based sector is now pushing beyond the traditional vegetarian and vegan consumers to a large demand from the everyday consumer. New plant-based product launches have increased by 59% in 2021. Consumers want to dramatically reduce their intake of animal-sourced ingredients due to concern for the environment and this has driven Cambridge Commodities to offer effective alternatives for our customers:

Coll-egan®- Coll-egan® is our new solution for your joint, beauty and general health formulations. Created using an innovative blend of amino acids that are found in high quantities within Collagen. Our Coll-egan® vegan formation is combined with vitamin C for the EFSA health claims relating to collagen formation: Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of the skin.

Vita-algae D®- Conventional Vitamin D3 is usually derived from lanolin - the grease from sheep's wool. These sources are often deemed undesirable and prevent suitability for the growing plant-based trend. Vita-algae D® is cholecalciferol produced from algae, it offers a100% sustainable and traceable end-to-end supply chain process with complete control on quality and purity.

ProEarth® Vegan proteins are clean label, often allergen-free and easily digestible due to their fibre content. Plant protein sources can provide a full profile of amino acids and omega 3 fatty acids from Clear Rice Protein to Cranberry Protein.

Gut Glory

Only a few years ago, gut health was a little known area of the wellness market, let alone the food and drink sector. But today, products that boast gut-health-boosting properties provide a fast-growing opportunity for food brands and retailers. According to Euromonitor, 25% of global consumers suffer from digestive issues. 50% of these consumers claim these issues have a moderate to severe impact on their overall health. Cambridge Commodities have been interested in gut health for many years and our solution to add to your formulations include:

ActiBio® Our range of shelf-stable live cultures. Our spore-forming, lactic acid-producing bacteria can be stored & transported without refrigeration. The problem in the market with typical cultures is that they have very poor stability over 24 months, they will die over the course of the shelf life and activity levels will drop respectively. ActiBio® can give peace of mind to manufacturers and brands alike knowing that the activity levels of this popular branded ingredient will not drop and the efficacy of their finished products will not be impacted over the course of shelf life. Livaux™ Derived from the naturally high polyphenol count Zespri® SunGold kiwifruit, this high quality, freeze-dried powder functions as a prebiotic that promotes the healthy growth of commercial probiotic strains. It works to increase the F.prau levels in the gut, thereby contributing to healthy immune function.
