Acetyl-L-carnitine is an amino acid (a building block for proteins) that is also naturally produced in the body, helping to produce energy.

Carnitines carry certain fatty acids to mitochondria to be burned as fuel, the way acetyl-L-Carnitine works with the mitochondria helps the body to metabolise fat.

All Carnitines are antioxidants and work in different but related ways, some are closely tied to cardiac health, some to metabolism and some to neurological health. Carnitine is produced in the liver and kidneys, then stored in the skeletal muscles, heart and brain.
