Alpha lipoic acid is a powerful antioxidant which helps to neutralise free radicals and protect cells from damage. Its main function is to increase production of glutathione which helps dissolve toxic substances in the liver.

Alpha lipoic acid is easily absorbed into the blood stream and can be found in foods such as meat and vegetables. It interacts well with its antioxidant partners, vitamin E and C by helping to conserve them. When the body is deficient in alpha lipoic acid, other antioxidants do not network together properly.

Alpha lipoic acid has been the subject of many studies focusing on how it improves the physique, combats free radicals, protects our genetic material, slows ageing, helps protect against heart disease and cardiovascular problems.

Alpha lipoic acid is not recommended for pregnant women.
