Turmeric is widely used in Indian cooking and is sometimes known as the ‘spice of life’. It has been used within the Ayurvedic system of medicine for thousands of years. In ancient history, curry powders and spices were used to preserve food, and consequently, studies have revealed that turmeric and it’s derivative curcumin, are potent antioxidants.
