Methoxyisoflavone is a flavonoid; more specifically it is an isoflavone. Isoflavones are often classified as 'phytoestrogens' due to their structure that is similar to that of human oestrogen.

While it is popular with bodybuilders. it has been noted that consumption may produce a false positive results in urinary tests for cannabinoid as its metabolites can cross-react with the antibodies used for the screening of synthetic cannabinoids (Lecompte et al, 2012).
